Movement and tantra are powerful tools for self-discovery and healing. Through mindful movement, you can reconnect with your body, release tension, and express emotions that words cannot capture. Tantra, with its rich traditions and practices, helps you tap into your sensuality and inner power, fostering a deep connection with yourself and your partner.

Whether it’s through simple movement, shadow dancing, yoga, or tantric rituals, these practices allow you to explore your body’s potential and embrace your true self. They’re not just exercises; they’re pathways to greater self-awareness and empowerment.

This post reveals my embodiment practices. I use this and lip-syncing to express my emotions over the years. (Slide through videos). Within the last year studying Tantra, I’ve discovered how people use this practice for healing and release. I even find joy in improvising while out shopping with friends (view the furry boots video-sadly I had to take down the sound).

These practices are designed to elevate your well-being, foster self-love, and enhance your romantic relationships by romanticizing your own life.

During the 2020 pandemic, with in-person interactions limited, I discovered the joy of improvisational theatre through online workshops led by Aretha Sills. Improv became my lifeline for pleasure, fun, and connection during isolation.

Improv isn’t just for live performances; it can be a daily tool for stress relief and creativity. You don’t need to be with others to enjoy its benefits. Here’s how you can incorporate improv into your routine:

1. Solo Gibberish Game: Speak in gibberish for a few minutes each day to release tension and spark creativity.
2. Space Walk Exercise: Imagine walking through various environments, adjusting your movements and reactions to stay grounded and present. Maybe bring in an object for fun. Play with the object.
3. Spontaneous Play: Embrace playful, creative moments in your daily life to foster joy and reduce stress.

Fashion can be a powerful medium for healing, especially when intertwined with the art of exposure narrative therapy. Here’s a story of transformation and reclaiming power:

A client of mine once brought an outfit she had worn during an event that ended traumatically. We began by laying the outfit on the ground, giving it a character, a name, a story. She followed her instincts, improvising the character’s personality and voice. At first, she told her story in the third person, creating a safe distance to explore her emotions. Gradually, she shifted, embracing her own voice, and told her story in the first person, reclaiming her narrative and her power.

She came to many realizations when it came to yearning, safety, and healthy intimacy. Through her pain, she discovered a path to pleasure and healing. When the session ended, she chose to rip and throw away the outfit, symbolizing her release from the trauma. Yet, she kept one piece—a token of her strength and resilience. This act was more than symbolic; it was a profound integration of her past, no longer defined by it but strengthened by it.

Today, she thrives in a loving relationship and bravely moved out of state to be with her partner. This story shows that healing and reclaiming your sexual power can lead to the love and life you deeply desire.

Day 4: Power and Pleasure through Tantra 🕉️📿

Tantra is a profound practice that connects you deeply with your sensuality and inner power. I’m studying a lineage-based Tibetan Tantra. They use the Five Elements (Fire, Earth, Space, Air, and Water) as healing practices:

1. Fire: Burns off attachments, brings forth magnetism and bliss, and has a magnetizing quality.
2. Earth: Brings enrichment, the wisdom of equality, and an enriching quality.
3. Space: Offers openness, is the antidote to separation and ignorance, and brings a pacifying quality.
4. Air: Clears out jealousy, brings all-accomplishing wisdom, provides enjoyment, and has a creation quality.
5. Water: Washes away anger, grants mirror-like wisdom, and it brings a destruction quality so you see the clarity.

Tantra means weaving light and sound with form. The form is your body. The meditations, mantras and sensual movements activate your form and springs forth pleasure, ease, and grace.

Tantra is more than just physical intimacy. It is also very spiritual.

Improvisational theatre isn’t just for actors on stage—it’s a powerful tool for pleasure and empowerment for all. By engaging in improv, you explore different facets of your personality, embrace spontaneity, and discover new aspects of your inner self without judgment.

Here’s a story from a Drama Therapy group I held in a forensic and mental health hospital. Participants, including older adults with CPTSD, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Dementia, and other health issues, were playing “Hat Chat.” They grabbed a hat, created a character, and were interviewed as if on an Oprah show. One participant sadly shared, “I never had a job!” This revelation sparked unexpected care. Other participants, who typically argued with this individual, collaborated to create a job for them. They asked what they always wanted to do and created a scene to improvise. The group was delighted to help, demonstrating how improv unlocks compassion and creativity. It was beautiful to see inclusivity and acceptance.

Improv teaches you to trust yourself, be present, and connect deeply with others. It’s about saying “yes” to the unexpected and finding joy in the unknown. This practice can break down barriers, reduce anxiety, and boost self-confidence.

One day, I showed up to work in a bright red wig. I was feeling a type of way I couldn’t explain. The reactions were priceless: everyone loved the look, but one coworker was avoidant. At that moment, it clicked—I was mad at this coworker, and he knew we had unfinished business. That day was oddly satisfying for me because no one knew the mystery behind my hairstyle choice. Something inside of me (call it intuition or spirit) awakened and led me to say something through my hair. I giggle at the thought: A channeled message by hair!? Who would’ve thought!?

Fashion isn’t just about trends; it’s a way to express your inner self. Your outfit can reflect your personality and mood, but it can also hold mystery—what you wear on the outside doesn’t always reveal what’s happening inside. This mystery is part of the art of seduction, creating allure and intrigue.

When you choose your outfits with intention, you’re not just dressing up—you’re making a statement. Each piece reflects a part of your inner world, a secret message only you fully understand. This power of choice allows you to control how you present yourself and how you’re perceived.

As I share about the power of fashion today, I offer a playful practice for you:

1. Wear something this week that is the opposite of your mood. Observe how your garment affects your mood and confidence. See how others respond as you go about your day. Ask a close friend what they think about your outfit, but don’t reveal your real mood. It’s nice to keep some things a mystery. 😉

Fashion is about celebrating your unique self. Embrace the mystery and power of your choices.

To get started, let’s recognize the breadth of the expressive arts: painting, musical instruments, acting, dance, photography, singing, writing, poetry, sculpture, film, digital art, collage, pottery, crafts, calligraphy, mime, and so much more. The common thread among all these forms is this:

Your own body is the instrument.

You are the embodied artist.

Engaging in these artistic practices is not just an activity; it’s a way to channel your emotions, thoughts, and energies through your body. This physical expression can release stress, connect you with your inner self, and transform your emotional state.

Expressive arts allow you to embody your feelings and experiences, turning abstract emotions into tangible expressions. Whether you’re painting a canvas, performing a monologue, or moving to music, you use your body to communicate and release what’s inside you. This process is incredibly healing, helping you understand and process your emotions in a safe and creative way.

As Viola Spolin, the pioneer of improvisational theatre, wisely said, “We learn through experience and experiencing, and no one teaches anyone anything.”

Spolin’s insight reveals that embodied arts teach you through direct experience, fostering deep personal growth and understanding. This brings us to an important question for you:

TW 👖 DENIM DAY: 25 Years of Impact. As an expressive art therapist that has worked with survivors of s^xu@l abuse and assault, I find it important to share about denim day.

“Since 1999, Peace Over Violence has run an inspiring and powerful opportunity to practice solidarity and support survivors by renewing our commitment to exposing harmful behaviors and attitudes surrounding s^xu@l violence. Denim Day is a campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of S-xu@l Assault Awareness Month. The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a r-pe conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who harmed her to remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence developed the Denim Day campaign in response to this case and the activism surrounding it. Since then, what started as a local campaign to bring awareness to victim blaming and destructive myths that surround s^xu@l violence has grown into a movement.”
